{"id":637,"date":"2010-04-15T18:58:35","date_gmt":"2010-04-15T18:58:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/agraham.org\/blog\/?p=637"},"modified":"2021-04-03T12:49:56","modified_gmt":"2021-04-03T12:49:56","slug":"digital-economy-bill","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/agraham.org\/blog\/2010\/04\/15\/digital-economy-bill\/","title":{"rendered":"Digital Economy Bill"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I hadn&#8217;t noticed But Stewart Hosie (<acronym title=\"Member of Parliament\">MP<\/acronym> for Dundee East) <a href=\"https:\/\/www.publicwhip.org.uk\/division.php?date=2010-04-07&amp;number=132&amp;display=allpossible\">voted for the Digital Economy Bill<\/a> meaning that 100% of the <acronym title=\"Scottish National Party\">SNP<\/acronym> <acronym title=\"Member of Parliament\">MP<\/acronym>s who voted supported it. I have written to Jim Barrie (Prospective Parliamentary Candidate for the  <acronym title=\"Scottish National Party\">SNP<\/acronym> in Dundee West) asking for his view on the bill (email sent on 15th April).<\/p>\n<p>Jim McGovern was too lazy to show up to the debate or vote either way. The vote had a 38.2% turnout. Look out for he and others lecturing in the media about vote apathy in the near future.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking of Jim McGovern I had a letter from him.<\/p>\n<p>A quick timeline<br \/>\n22nd March I write to him asking him to oppose <acronym title=\"Digital Economy Bill\">DEB<\/acronym> and what he intends to do.<br \/>\n7th April he doesn&#8217;t show up to debate.<br \/>\n7th April I get letter from him.<\/p>\n<p>This letter was not to do with the <acronym title=\"Digital Economy Bill\">DEB<\/acronym> (still waiting Jim) but was his <q>Election called, I&#8217;m not <acronym title=\"Member of Parliament\">MP<\/acronym> *cough* vote for me *cough*<\/q> excuse to use up his branded stationary to all constituents. Pretty insulting right?<\/p>\n<p>The content of the letter was even more so:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\nI will not be able to ..deal with constituency casework over the election period.\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><strong>Liar<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20181012134322\/https:\/\/www.parliament.uk\/about\/faqs\/house-of-commons-faqs\/genelec2010faq\/\"><acronym title=\"Member of Parliament\">MP<\/acronym>s are able to work on cases for constituents<\/a> if the constituent understands they are not doing so as an <acronym title=\"Member of Parliament\">MP<\/acronym> and agree for them to continue on work.<\/p>\n<p>So not only does he ignore my letter, he doesn&#8217;t turn up to the debate I was asking about and on the day of the debate writes to me with incorrect information.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I hadn&#8217;t noticed But Stewart Hosie (MP for Dundee East) voted for the Digital Economy Bill meaning that 100% of the SNP MPs who voted supported it.
